My Dream Charity

Hello, my name is Emir. I'm nineteen years old. I'm a student at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University. Today, I'm going to tell you about my dream charity.

How many people do you think are unable to access even simple activities, such as walking by the sea or drinking coffee in a café? Over a million, and these people include patients, elderly individuals and disabled individuals. They want to go out or do something else, but they can't. However, we can help them with my charity Hope Hand.

First of all, many of these people become depressed and disconnect from life because they constantly stay indoors due to their health problems. We want to connect them to life. To do this, our team of volunteers takes them to places where they can relax and socialize by private buses. In addition, we have a very useful carrying system to transport bedridden patients. First, we take bedridden patients from their homes with their beds and transport them on our bus specially designed for bedridden patients and we take them to the beaches or wherever they want to go.

Secondly, chatting is important for everyone because chatting increases a person’s self-confidence and  wards off loneliness. However, these people may not have anyone to chat with and tell their troubles to. In this case, they may lose their self-confidence and feel lonely. This may lead to more problems. We want to solve this problem. We want to save them from loneliness. That’s why, we established a communication team consisting of volunteers. Our team goes to nursing homes, hospitals or their homes and chats with these people who want to talk. We don’t just chat but also engage in different activities. For example, we play board games, such as chess and backgammon and organize book reading activities with these people on certain days of the week.

Thirdly, disabled individuals think that they can’t do any sports due to their disabilities , and this reduces their motivation. We want to increase their motivation and make things possible that they see as impossible. To do this, we have volunteer sports coaches. Thanks to these sports coaches, we help these people do the things they want to do but can’t do because of their disabilities. For example, 3 months ago, together with our sports coaches, we enabled a disabled person who lost her legs to ski with specially designed skis.

Finally, disabled individuals need some tools, such as a wheelchair or a prosthetic hand, to live more comfortably. If they don’t access these tools, they won't be able to meet their needs, and their lives will become even more difficult. We want to make their lives easier. We meet these needs with your donations.

In brief, we want to help more people. We want to be a hand of hope to more people. We need you for this. So, what can you do? You can volunteer or you can donate. You can visit www.hopehand.org to volunteer or donate.
