Differences Between E-Sports and Traditional Sports

Doing sports provides people’s physical and social development. But it doesn’t matter
where you do that sport or what type of sport you do. By following these questions, two main
types of sport occur: E-Sports and Traditional Sports. Even though many people can’t explain
the difference between E-Sports and Traditional Sports, there are distinct differences in
definition, the field of activity, and physicality of two terms.

According to the Federation of E-Sports, E-Sports is a competitive sport that uses
information and communication technologies (computers, monitors, and other types of
equipment). Because of the usage of technological equipment, E-Sports don’t need an exact
area to do sport. Everyone who has a computer system can easily do that sport in their houses.
Also, E-sport tournaments are generally displayed online on streaming platforms like YouTube
or Twitch. It’s the same as the players, the audience does not need certain areas to watch that
sport. They can easily interact with their phones or computers to spectate. In addition, e-sports
players don't put much physical effort while doing sports. They compete with their reflexes and
strategic thinking. Rather than a physical effort like running or jumping, they are truly focusing
on hand-eye coordination and mental stability.

On the other hand, sports are competitive, competitions or activities are performed
individually or in teams related to predetermined rules. Players need a determined area for
doing that kind of sport. For example, a court for tennis or a pitch for football. Also, the
audience needs a tribune to spectate. Because traditional sports are generally played live
compared to E-Sports. Moreover, Traditional Sports require physical exertion and athleticism.
They spend their whole time training and stabilizing their fitness.

In conclusion, while e-sports and traditional sports occur in different terms of activities
they offer unique experiences and social networks to players. It doesn’t bother if you are
kicking the ball to get a score or being igl (in-game leader) for the virtual army to win, these
all supply the mental, physical, and social development.
