Childhood is an important period of life. People may think childhood does not change over time. However, childhood today and my time are different in two main aspects: technology and children’s safety.
Firstly,
children today are more dependent on technology. Compared to my childhood,
games played outside were replaced by technological games. For example, the children
we see everywhere these days have tablets and phones in their hands. On the
other hand, compared to my childhood, the safety of the time we live in is also
in question. Children’s freedom today is more restricted than in my time.
Families are sending their children out less for safety reasons.
Secondly, in my time children were going out
more and socializing with their friends. Compared to today, since technology
was less developed, children were playing games with their friends outside
instead of computer games. Additionally, in my time there was a safer
environment for children to play outside. Families used fewer restrictions when
sending their children out.
In brief, today
and in my time, childhood is different for security and technological reasons.
These days, childhood is more about technological games, and we see children
playing outside less for safety reasons. I think children should be less
exposed to technology and socialize outside more, but today’s security reasons
do not allow this.
