BOOKS VS MOVIES

Nowadays, some directors adapt books into films because people want to feel emotions, gestures and mimics in the movies. Some people like this situation but some people don’t like it because they think films don’t show all events. In this situation, books and films have two main differences in terms of emotions and presentation of events.

Firstly, when you read books, you feel different emotions because you imagine the events and characters in your mind. These help you to develop your imagination. If  books are adapted into films, the actors will turn out to be a different type of person than you imagined or if the actors acting in the film is bad, you can’t feel the emotions and you might be disappointed. For example, in the ‘The Boys of Paul Street’ movie, the feeling of the book wasn’t fully given. In addition, we usually don’t know characters inner voice in the movies and this can prevent us from understanding what the character is feeling.

Secondly, movies are different from books in terms of presentation of events because directors are trying to turn the entire books into a 2-hour movie. Because of this reason they cut some parts of the books but people hate this situation especially the books’ fans hate it because they want to see all parts of the book in the movie. So people don’t prefer to watch the movies of the books because of the cut parts.

In brief, people prefer books to movies because they think they understand events and emotions better in books. I think if a book has been made into a movie, we should read the book first then watch the movie.
